Terms of White Nights Russian Language
and Cultural Immersion Program

  1. The following goods and services are provided by White Nights to program participants during the time period specified in the application form:
    • Accommodation with Russian families in Saint Petersburg, Russia. Breakfast and dinners every day.
    • Language instruction, either group or individual
    • Cultural outings every two to three days.
    • Transport pass for Saint Petersburg municipal transport system.
    • Transfers to/from airport/train stations.

  2. Transport to and from Saint Petersburg is responsibility of applicant, although White Nights may provide applicants with airline tickets for a separate fee.

  3. A deposit of $300 (Netherlands 500f; Switzerland 400 SFr; Germany 425 DM) is required from the applicant for White Nights to begin booking procedures. Upon receipt of the deposit, White Nights will issue the participant a travel voucher which can be used to obtain a Russian visa from the Russian embassy/consulate. Procuring of Russian visa is the applicant's responsibility. Applicant understands that a passport valid for at least six months beyond the entry date to Russia is required for travel to Russia. Russian visas can take up to two weeks to be processed dependent on the visa fee charged, and applicant assumes responsibility for days lost should he/she fail to arrive in Saint Petersburg on the program date that he/she specifies. Costs attributed to program date changes made by the applicant are to be assumed by the applicant.

  4. Cancellation penalties. Should the applicant wish to cancel out of the program, the following penalties apply:
    • Notice of cancellation given more than 6 weeks prior to start date of program: $100 forfeited (Netherlands 160f; Switzerland 130SFr; Germany 140DM).
    • Notice of cancellation given more than 4 weeks prior to start date of program: $200 forfeited (Netherlands 320f; Switzerland 260SFr; Germany 280DM).
    • Notice of cancellation given less than 4 weeks prior to start date of program: 50% of program fee forfeited.

  5. Applicant understands that no travel, theft, or health insurance is offered by White Nights, and procurement of such insurance is the sole responsibility of the applicant. The applicant assumes responsibility for all health problems and actions taken on his/her part that affect his/her participation in the program. White Nights cannot be held responsibile for actions out of its control such as strikes, political unrest, natural catastrophes, etc. (force majeure).
